“Having our son work with Brandon has been a great experience. He has taught him things that are hard to get other places. We recommend anyone would benefit from Brandon’s coaching.”Robert & Terriann Nash (Parents of Roy Nash)
Brayden Nuffer and Parents Rick and Kaye after Brayden's outstanding performance at the Freestyle state championships.
“Brandon Ruiz’s training center has provided our son with valuable lessons of not only physical and technical training but spiritual and mental qualities that will be of great value throughout his life. Brandon has made himself available for support and advice whenever Brayden has been down or nervous about an upcoming event. His training has been intense and Brayden comes home exhausted. His technique and level of desire, confidence, and intensity have increased noticeably as is reflected in his win record. We recommend Ruiz Combat Grappling whole heartedly.”Rick and Kaye Nuffer (Parents of Brayden Nuffer 2nd Super State, 2xState Placer and currently on scholarship at Western Wyoming Community College)
Coach Brandon Ruiz and High School All-American, Dalton Mortensen, during a post-match coaching moment.
"We credit much of Dalton's success to you and the "boys" - especially Roy - for often being the partner, sometimes opponent, additional coaching, and mischievousness! Our many, many thanks to you Brandon Ruiz - always! For your coaching, training and support! We are forever grateful for your time and the work you put into, and seek from Dalton!"Tonia Hodges (Mother of Dalton Mortensen)
Mark Schultz - NCAA, World & Olympic Wrestling Champion
Mark Schultz and Brandon Ruiz
"I think everyone should know, out of all the athletes I ever coached Brandon Ruiz excelled way beyond what I thought was possible for him. To go from 5th in the Western Athletic Conference as a college senior to WORLD GRAPPLING CHAMPION is one of the most incredible feats of sheer raw determination and guts I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Pride is a word that doesn't describe how I feel about you Brandon."
Mark Schultz, Freestyle Wrestling, Olympic Champion, 2 x World Champion, 3 x NCAA Champion
“Ruiz Combat Grappling is awesome. I’ve learned a ton. Not only do we work on the physical side of wrestling but the mental part of it too. The coach is a beast. The guys are fun. If you want to take it to the next level this is how you do it!” Nick Alder
Aaron Kuttler - Wrestling State Champion
“Training with Brandon Ruiz was probable the soul reason I was able to win state the coaches I had were very inexperienced and taught very little technique, training with Brandon enabled me to learn flawless technique from a different point of view. I learned the physiology of moves I already knew and learned why they worked and how I could improve them. Because of Brandon's back ground in grappling I felt it added to my wrestling technique in a way that was unique to others and threw them off. One of the things that I liked the most was unlike other coaches, Brandon helped me develop my own style instead of forcing his onto me. It is a guarantee that I would not have been able to win the state tournament without his coaching and directions.” Aaron Kuttler, 189lb 2011 Utah State Wrestling Champion
Lars Oveson - State Finalist/2 x Wrestling State Placer
“The idea of working with Brandon was something that really caught my attention from the moment that I heard that he was an All-American heavyweight. Actually working with him was even better. He made me feel infinitely more comfortable on my feet and on the mat. I felt like I knew that it didn’t matter what the other people knew about wrestling, because I knew better techniques that almost always smashed theirs. I loved the intensity of the room and the level of my training partners was also great. Roy Nash, being of note, is the highest notch of wrestler in the entire country. I also really enjoyed my experiences in learning from him (Brandon) about how to be mentally tough when the matches and opponents are tough. He got on the mat and worked with me for hours, if necessary, just so that I could do the moves correctly. I would say that anyone who wants to be a better wrestler in all aspects of the sport should look to him for high level coaching.” Lars Oveson, 2 x State Placer (Florida & Utah)
Randy Oveson (Lars' Father)
“As a parent I am very careful about who I allow to influence my children. As such I attended many of the early training sessions that were held between my son Lars and Brandon Ruiz. I was impressed with the physical and mental training and coaching that my son received. But above that--and more importantly--is the character that I saw Brandon demonstrate and exemplify for my son. Brandon is an excellent role-model for any athlete, young or old. He has been there encouraging him in his wrestling and in his other worthy pursuits in life as well. Brandon has been there to enjoy the successes and to help lift Lars from despair during difficult losses. As a parent of an athlete he has my full endorsement.” Randy Oveson
Dave Castillo - Professional MMA Fighter
